DESCRIPTION: Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve some symptoms of arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, such as inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain. However, this medicine does not cure arthritis and will help you only as long as you continue to take it.

Mobic Profile:

Meloxicam is used for treating rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and juvenile arthritis. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Meloxicam is an NSAID. Exactly how it works is not known. It may block certain substances in the body that are linked to inflammation. NSAIDs treat the symptoms of pain and inflammation. They do not treat the disease that causes those symptoms.

For safe and effective use of Meloxicam, do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than ordered by your health care professional. Taking too much of this medicine may increase the chance of unwanted side effects.

Mobic Dosing:

The dose of meloxicam will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average dose of meloxicam. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.

For symptoms of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis:

Adults — 7.5 milligrams (mg) once a day

Children — Use must be determined by your doctor

For symptoms of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis:

Children — Dose is based on weight and must be determined by your doctor.

Missed dose of Mobic:

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if you do not remember the missed dose until the next day, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

Storage - To store Mobic:

  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Do not store in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.
  • Do not refrigerate or freeze.
  • Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Ask your health care professional how you should dispose of any medicine you do not use. Be sure that any discarded medicine is out of the reach of children.
